For followers of Emily Henry, a debut a few rom-com screenwriter who would not consider in love and a divorce lawyer who does, pressured collectively at their highschool reunion fifteen years after their breakup

Molly Marks writes Hollywood rom-coms for a dwelling―which is how she is aware of “romance” is a racket. The one and solely time she was naive sufficient to fall in love was together with her highschool boyfriend, Seth―who she ghosted on the eve of commencement and hasn’t seen in fifteen years.

Seth Rubinstein believes in love, the grand, fated sort, regardless of his job as, properly…considered one of Chicago’s most profitable divorce attorneys. Over the past decade, he’s sought “the one” in numerous dangerous dates and rushed relationships. He is aware of his soulmate is on the market. However to this point, nobody can examine to Molly Marks, the primary lady who broke his coronary heart.

When Molly’s pals drag her to Florida for his or her fifteenth highschool reunion, it’s poetic justice that she’s pressured to sit down with Seth. Too many martinis and a drunken hookup later, they determine to make a guess: whoever can predict the destiny of 5 {couples} earlier than the following reunion should declare that the opposite is true about real love. The catch? The fifth couple is the 2 of them.

Molly assures Seth they’re a story of timeless heartbreak. Seth guarantees she’ll find yourself hopelessly in love with him. She thinks he’s delusional. He has 5 years to show her flawed.

Wickedly humorous, attractive, and brimming with laughs and coronary heart like the perfect romantic comedies, Simply Some Silly Love Story is for everybody who believes in soulmates―even when they might by no means admit it.

Simply Some Silly Love Story pairs nearly completely with Taylor Swift’s The Bolter

Molly Marks, a rom-com screenwriter from L.A., is flighty. On the first signal of dedication, she is going to bolt. Seth Rubinstein, a divorce lawyer in Chicago, believes in soulmates and pursues love with overeager earnestness. Molly broke Seth’s coronary heart again in highschool, and though neither will admit it, they aren’t over it. Sparks fly once they see one another at their fifteenth highschool reunion, they usually find yourself “reconnecting” for old-time’s sake. True to her sample, Molly considers it a one-night stand, however Seth thinks is the chance to vary their ending. Can they get on the identical web page?

“There’s a big, depraved a part of me that wishes to inform him to maintain sending me soft-hearted, paragraph-lenghed texts about how beautiful I’m. However his sweetness is the clencher. I’m simply not good sufficient for him. I want for a second that I used to be. That I believed within the logic of rom-coms. That Seth may sore up my religion and sand down my tough edges, and I may brace him with realism till we evolve into one another’s lacking piece. However that’s not the way it works.”

Molly

“I do know in my soul that we love one another in a manner that I’ve by no means skilled and doubt I’ll ever expertise once more. Our love wasn’t a romantic comedy. I didn’t count on it to be. All I ever needed, was her.”

Seth

The nice, the dangerous & the soiled

I loved this second-story romance. No person makes you’re feeling like your past love, and it’s in all probability my favourite trope. I felt for Molly and her hesitation to pursue happiness. And Seth is the right rom-com lead–dedicated, relentless, and full of affection with out being a golden retriever. I liked the chance to be inside their heads and see how they fell in love. Each characters are well-written, and their love story is enjoyable and has a very good tempo. I haven’t learn many steamy rom-coms, and this one delivered properly.

Nevertheless, I resented that Molly was the one one with baggage and points, whereas Seth was simply good. Additionally, I do know COVID-19 has been an enormous a part of our lives for years, and all of us course of our collective trauma any manner we are able to, however I don’t wish to examine it anymore, not within the areas I create to let my thoughts wander worry-free.

Total, Simply Some Silly Love Story was a strong debut novel by Katelyn Doyle. I used to be hooked on it, and it left me feeling completely satisfied, hopeful and refreshed.

In regards to the audiobook narrators: Christine Lakin and Tim Paige do a beautiful job narrating this twin POV story. I can really feel their chemistry though they don’t work together as a result of they alternate chapters.
